An electric flange gate valve is a valve used to control the flow of fluid (liquid, gas or steam) in a pipeline. It is called a gate valve because it uses a disc or wedge to control the flow of fluid through the valve. This ram or disc is moved up and down by a threaded rod operated by a wheel or handle at the top of the valve. When the gate valve is fully opened, the gate completely lifts out of the flow path, allowing fluid to pass through the valve with very little resistance. When the valve is closed, the ram drops back into the flow path, creating a tight seal to prevent fluid passage.
Electric flanged gate valves are widely used in petrochemical, thermal power plants and other oil and water steam pipelines for media pipeline opening and closing equipment. It has the following characteristics:
Low flow resistance. The medium channel in the valve body is straight through, the medium flows in a straight line, and the resistance is small.
It takes more force to open and close. Compared with the globe valve, because whether it is opened or closed, the direction of motion of the gate is perpendicular to the direction of the medium flow.
High height, long opening and closing time. The opening and closing stroke of the gate is large, and the screw is lifted.
It is not easy to produce water hammer phenomenon. The reason is the long shutdown time.
The medium can flow in any direction on both sides and is easy to install. The channels on both sides of the gate valve are symmetrical.
The length of the structure (the distance between the two connected ends of the shell) is small.
The sealing surface is easy to wear, which affects the service life. When opening and closing, the two sealing surfaces of gate and seat are prone to friction and sliding under the action of medium pressure, resulting in wear, affecting the sealing performance and shortening the service life.
The price is more expensive. More contact sealing surface, complex processing, especially the sealing surface of the valve seat is not easy to process, many parts.
It has the advantages of simple appearance, short structure length, good manufacturability and wide application range.

The design specification, structural length, connection flange, test and inspection, pressure-temperature rating and product marking have corresponding standards, such as GB/T 12234, GB/T 12221, JB/T 79, JB/T 9092, GB/T 9131 and GB/T 12220.
