The Lug Wafer Butterfly Valve, also known as the lug butterfly valve, is a valve widely used in industrial fields. It is favored for its compact design, cost-effectiveness and versatility. Lug to pinch butterfly valves have threaded inserts (lugs) on the body and can be bolted without relying on additional flange washers. This design is easy to maintain and allows valves to be used as pipe end devices, often in water supply, chemical processing and industrial applications.
The drive mode of the butterfly valve can be manual, worm gear, pneumatic or electric, the connection mode can be flange or clamp, and the structure form can be single eccentric, middle line, double eccentric or three eccentric. Seal structure can be soft seal or hard seal, pressure range from PN0.1 to 10Mpa, nominal diameter from DN40 to 2000mm, the material can choose cast steel or stainless steel. The butterfly valve plate is installed in the diameter direction of the pipeline, in the cylindrical channel of the valve body, the butterfly plate rotates around the axis, the rotation Angle is between 0°-90°, and the valve is fully open when 90°.
When the lug clamp butterfly valve is in the fully open position, the thickness of the butterfly plate is the only resistance when the medium flows through the valve body, so the pressure drop through the valve is small, and it has better flow control characteristics. Butterfly valve has two sealing types: elastic seal and metal seal. The sealing ring of the elastic seal valve can be inlaid on the valve body or attached to the butterfly plate. This kind of valve is not only widely used in general industries such as petroleum, gas, chemical industry and water treatment, but also used in cooling water systems of thermal power plants, as well as in the sulfuric acid industry of gas pipeline regulation and cut-off gas use.
When selecting butterfly valves, factors such as material compatibility, connection mode, operating environment, automation requirements and industry standards should be considered. For corrosive or abrasive fluids, for example, it may be necessary to choose a stainless steel, PTFE lined or CPVC butterfly valve. For compact installations, clip-on or lug butterfly valves can be selected, while high pressure applications may require flanged butterfly valves.
